Alexander III of Macedon, commonly known as Alexander the Great, was a king of Macedon, a state in ancient Greece. He was born in 356 BC in Pella, the capital of Macedon, and died in 323 BC in Babylon, Mesopotamia. Alexander is considered one of the greatest military leaders of all time and is best known for his tactical genius, his ability to inspire his troops, and his cultural tolerance.
