Buzz Aldrin Biography

Buzz Aldrin is an American astronaut, engineer, and former astronaut of the United States Air Force. He was born in Montclair, New Jersey in 1930. Aldrin is best known for being the second person to walk on the Moon, following Neil Armstrong, as part of the Apollo 11 mission in 1969. He spent 21 hours and 31 minutes on the lunar surface, during which he conducted experiments and collected samples. He also spent several hours outside of the Lunar Module, becoming the first astronaut to do extravehicular activity (EVA) on another celestial body.

Before becoming an astronaut, Aldrin graduated from West Point and served as a fighter pilot in the Korean War. After his time in NASA, he became a professor at the Air Force Academy and has been involved in various space-related projects and ventures, including the founding of the ShareSpace Foundation, which aims to make space travel more accessible to the general public.
