Who is Darren Aronofsky?

Darren Aronofsky (born February 12, 1969) is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for directing films such as "Requiem for a Dream," "The Fountain," "Black Swan," "Noah," and "Mother!"

Aronofsky was born in Brooklyn, New York, and studied at the Harvard University where he received his B.A. in social anthropology before attending film school at the American Film Institute Conservatory where he received his MFA.


He began his career in the late 1990s with the films "π" and "Requiem for a Dream" which were both critically acclaimed and garnered him recognition in the independent film scene. He followed that with "The Fountain" and "The Wrestler" which were both well received by critics and earned several award nominations.

His 2014 film "Noah" and his 2017 film "Mother!" also received mixed reviews but were notable for their unique visual style.
