The art of Comparing Prices

As we all carry a mobile device with us a majority of the time, comparing products is pretty much a matter of a few clicks. This can be a fantastic way to save money and get the best bargains for your budget.

Now, there are plenty of general comparison sites to choose from. Well-known comparison sites in the U.S include gocompare.com, pricegrabber.com, comparethemarket.com, confused.com, bizrate.com, moneysupermarket.com and uSwitch.com.

In the UK, price comparison sites include pricerunner.co.uk, mysupermarket.co.uk, and which.co.uk. And in Australia, a couple of the primary comparison sites are getprice.com.au and shopbot.com.au.

However, in my opinion, the best comparison site is Google.com. Yes, the search giant is usually the simplest and most effective way to go.

You see, instead of spending long hours on using general comparison sites, searching the product/service you plan to buy in Google takes only a few seconds and can offer you impressive cost savings.

Let’s take a closer look at how Google can help you to save significantly.

Compare and Save

Before you buy any new product or service, ask yourself honestly whether or not you really need it.

If the answer is a triumphant yes, the first place you want to compare prices is on Google Shopping at https://google.com/shopping.

Google Shopping shows similar products from different merchants so you can choose what to purchase based on price, consumer ratings and shipping rates.

Although Google Shopping is a paid comparison shopping engine (meaning merchants pay to list products on Google), it still provides an impressive number of online stores and can save you a lot of time and money.

If your product is not listed, go to your local google search engine and do quick searches with some of the following keywords:

“PRODUCT CATEGORY + buying guide”
“cheapest + PRODUCT NAME”
“PRODUCT NAME + Coupons”
“Cheapest way to buy + PRODUCT CATEGORY”
“better than + PRODUCT NAME”.

The last search phrase will almost always lead you to finding alternatives to whatever it is you’re searching for.

From now on, develop the habit of doing quick google searches before you buy anything online and offline. Those few minutes of your time might mean extra savings in your pocket.
