How to achieve goals – Act

Second Step: ACT

When I say act, I mean MASSIVE action. See, we're creatures of habit, Most than 90% of what we do or think is on automatic pilot. So when we take massive actions, this turns quickly into habits which create an upward spiral of reinforcement until it becomes totally natural and part of ourselves.

1. Create habits - Do something related to your primary goal EVERY day. I repeat - EVERY day. if you're looking for the perfect partner for example, spend few hours each and every day. Go out, approach, read, socialize. If you can’t handle many changes all together, commit to one for 21-30 days, then move to the next one. For example, becoming an early riser to work out and exercise. If you don’t usually exercise and find it too hard to combine both activities together, just commit to wake up early every day. Then after 30 days commit to exercise.

2. Do not think. You heard me right. You’ve done your thinking for the day, now its time to act. At this stage, your thinking can slow or totally freeze you. You’ll probably tell yourself one of your bullshit stories, I’m too tired, I can’t do it, I should relax, I will do it tomorrow, Its not on my league, she/they/no one like me…. You see the pattern…Our mind is a great tool but its only a tool, don’t let it control you, don’t trust it. Trust your heart, your desires, and your passions. Immerse yourself in what you do, in the moment, completely.. So next time you see someone you like, don’t think what to say and don’t asses the situation, simply approach and say something. “Hi” usually works : )

3. Experiment, try different things. Be unique. We try to copy other people so we can be “cool” like them. Being cool is being different. For instance, have the courage to try different cloths, see what works. You will be surprise. When I started wearing hats I felt ridiculous. In fact, I got so many compliments that it became so natural and comfortable to wear hats. People still associate my persona with hats, even when I stopped wearing them. Be creative here my friend, it can be in anything you do or behave, the way you speak, what you say, the way you walk.. Being unique equals value. If you’re the same as someone else you set yourself to constant comparison & high competition. If there is more of something around, the price usually goes down!

4. Act Independently - Do not be dependent on anyone or anything. Do it yourself. When you’re on dependent mode and it’s taken away you will feel naked, unable to act, sometimes when action is most needed! It can be your favorite cloths, your favorite place to go out, your favorite friends, your status, and the list can go long. Dependency is instilled in us since the days we were born, depending on our parents for survival and since it’s so damn easy to stay in this mode. We simply set ourselves to mediocrity. You will have to overcome an environment in which it is very easy to be dependent and difficult to be independent. Next time you go out, try something new and go out by yourself.

5. Avoid interruptions - Not only by other people but also by yourself. This is a crucial one and sometimes the hardest one to fix because of the emotional element attached to it. How many times did you go to the same website just to pass the time? Checking emails and facebook? Reading unimportant news? Watching invaluable TV shows? Procrastination is a disease and it kills your dreams. Other people will also kill it. Take some time to consider who you spend time with. Are they often negative? Do they suck your energy or give you energy? Do you respect them? If the answers are no - break the deal and do it NOW. You must surround yourself with POSITIVE people that you like and respect.
