Powerful Affirmations to achieve your goals
The practice of quieting the “inner voice” can be a difficult task, especially for meditation starters. A good place to start is by understanding that a powerful affirmation is a positive statement, something that is realistic. Our minds are continously filled with thoughts, whether its thinking about school, the kids, or anything else that may be going on. One form of meditation you will be asked to look at is your inner voice, and to look at it objectivly as possible. This voice allowed you to be consciously aware of thoughts that repeatedly play through your head during the course of the day.
Affirmations can be done many different ways, either quietly, aloud, written down or even chanted. Whichever method you are the most comfortable with will work the best for you. About ten minutes a day of positive affirmations can help to counterbalance years of negative mental habits. This positive idea can be anything that you create, it can be a simple idea or even very detailed. The possibilities of affirmations are endless, and the more you concentrate on these, the more positive your thinking will turn out to be.
Affirmations Tips:
o Create an affirmation as if it already exists, that is to say that you should state then in the present tense. Use a phrase like “I now have a beautiful house” instead of “I will get a beautiful house”. Don’t think of this as lying to yourself, but look at is as acknowledging the fact that everything that happens is mental first, before it can be a reality.
o When creating your affirmation, articulate it in the best way possible. For instance, instead if saying “I will no longer be late to work in the morning”, say “I will now get to work on time, and give my all to my assignments”. When stating things this way it creates positive mental images of how you will go about daily activities.
o If you are working to try to cleanse negativity from your thoughts, or bad habits, it may be necessary to use them in your affirmations. While doing this, always follow the affirmation with a positive one that describes the goal that you are working to achieve. “I don’t need to be tense in order to get things accomplished”, followed by “I now stay extremely relaxed and centered, everything is accomplished easily and effortlessly”. This phrase re-instates that you don’t need to be negative to get things done, and then pays off your realization by the second affirmation, which confirms your actions are paying off.
o As a general rule, the shorter and simpler that your affirmation is, the more effective it will be. Along with being short, it should also be a clear and precise statement that conveys a positive feeling. The more positivity that the feeling creates, the stronger the impression will be in your mind. If the affirmation is made to be long, it could lose its impact.
o Affirmations are not a generic statement. These are made for every person individually, and should be very personal, creating the best thoughts for you. An affirmation that works for one person may not apply to someone else who has different things that need to be changed, or different goals. If you do not feel positive, supportive or a sense of being free after making your affirmation, then try another one. Feeling emotional resistance when you first use an affirmation is typical. If it is making a realistic and important change in your life, the feeling is resistance is most likely a result of you ego reacting to your initial growth and change.
o Remember that you are not trying to redo or change the things that already exist, but that you are trying to create something new, fresh and exciting for your life. Your attitude should be excepting of whatever is going on in your life, whole trying to spend every moment creating a new opportunity to begin creating what you really want.
o Trying to resist or change your feelings or emotions is not the purpose of an affirmation. You must accept all of your feelings, even the negative ones, without attempting to change them. Instead, affirmations can help create a new point of view that will allow you to have a more satisfying experience from this point in your life.
o It’s important to create a feeling of belief when using your affirmations. While doing your affirmations, take a moment to postpone your doubts and hesitations, and put all your positive energy into the new idea. If you do happen to experience resistance or negative thoughts that get in the way of your affirmations, simply follow the steps in the clearing process and try again.
There are different ways to use affirmations; they can be used alone, or with imaging and visualizing combined. They can be without a doubt the most powerful when they include a reference to spiritual sources, not matter which spirituality you follow. Other ideas to use are ideas of divine love, your inner light, or universal intelligence.
