Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Biography

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was the founder and first President of Turkey. He was born in 1881 in the Ottoman Empire and began his military career as a young officer. He played a key role in the Gallipoli Campaign during World War I, and later led the Turkish War of Independence, which resulted in the formation of the Republic of Turkey in 1923.

As President, Atatürk implemented a series of sweeping social and political reforms, known as the Kemalist Revolution, aimed at modernizing and secularizing Turkey. He abolished the Ottoman Caliphate and introduced a new legal code, as well as a new alphabet and educational system.
